19. Trust the Truth
I think it's absolutely amazing how God arranges things for us to learn. I was just listening to preaching in which the thought came to mind of trusting God.
Unfortunately, these days we have false doctrines abounding everywhere, with Lordship Salvation being one of the biggest heresies in the world. Calvinism is another false doctrine, and of course the cults and false religions are all the rest. Every one of these is rejected by the true believer in Christ, because a true believer knows that these falsehoods are not what God said in His Book, the King James Bible.
Say if someone from the Jehovah's Witnesses cult came up to you and asked you if you wanted to go to their version of Heaven. I say "their version" because their version is not the truth. They tell you that you need faith plus works to be saved. The JW's even use a King James Bible, but they add works to be saved, so their doctrine is null and void and they are doomed to eternal Hell fire unless they are genuinely saved by believing only on Christ. They will show you their KJB, but they don't believe that the KJB says that to be saved, it's only by BELIEVING THE GOSPEL. Sadly, they are not allowed to read or know anything but their false religion, otherwise they are excommunicated. How terrible for them. The Jehovah's Witnesses cult is of the Devil.
Now if someone would ask you if you trusted Christ to be saved, you would assume they were a Christian. This is correct, because God wants us to BELIEVE on Jesus Christ, so you TRUST in Him to save you. Same thing goes when a little child trusts in his mother to feed him and clothe him. The child has no idea how to feed and clothe himself, so he trusts that his mother will do it, thus he BELIEVES the same thing. Same thing for our trusting in Christ to save us-- we BELIEVE the Gospel, and we TRUST in His completed work on the cross to pay for our sins in full, which of course it did. So I believe that trust is not a work, it is the outward manifestation of my belief in Christ to save me.
However you must be careful to make sure this person is saved because they might have been fed lies by false teachers. How to do that is to ask THEM how THEY were saved, whether by faith or by faith plus works. They may say, "I was baptized as a baby (Roman Catholicism) and I was saved." This is WRONG. You tell them that baptism as a baby is NOT the the way the Bible says to be saved. The Roman Catholics MIMIC the new birth by baptizing infants, thus falsely teaching that the infant has been cleansed of what they call "original sin" and they are going to Heaven. What they are really teaching is that infant (and the parents) are now in total bondage to the Roman Catholic works-based, idolatrous religion. This is BULLCRAP THEOLOGY, folks. Run from it!
This subject of trust had often confused me since I learned that works do not automatically get you into Heaven. During my spiritual infancy I had always assumed that trust was a work, but now I know that trust is the only way our belief is manifested outwardly. And if I am wrong on this issue, please correct me and show me in the Bible where it says otherwise. I am teachable, but I crave the truth.
Here are a few verses from the TRUST-worthy King James Bible:
Psalm 4:5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.
Psalm 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
Psalm 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
So therefore I conclude that I am correct, or rather, the King James Bible is correct. There are so many more "good stuff" verses on trust that confirm this. These are foundational verses, folks. If you don't know these to be the truth from the very mouth of God Almighty, then you are lost and need to get born again!
Do you know where you are going when you die? Jesus Christ came to earth to die for you and pay for your sins in full on the cross. You must believe as a little child and trust that Jesus loved you so much that He couldn't live without you. He died by His own power, and was buried, then He was risen again by His own power. It wasn't the nails that held Him on the cross, it was His love for you. His arms were outstretched to embrace the whole world, and He was made sin for every single human being that ever lived. He took your Hell so you wouldn't have to go to Hell when you die. Hell is an awful, eternal, real place of real fire and real brimstone where the lost go, and they never get out. There is no such thing as purgatory, folks. Jesus died so He could make YOUR payment for YOUR sin through His shed blood, and God was satisfied with His sinless sacrifice. We are all sinners, but Jesus is the SAVIOR. Please trust in Him today for salvation!
