23 Alphabetical Attributes of Salvation: Part Two

2. Blessing

We as humans love to be blessed. We often presume blessing will automatically follow us if we adhere to religion or living a good life. However, blessing is not a guarantee, even for the born again believer.

What I mean by this is we can only obtain blessing from God IF we obey HIS commandments, HIS statutes and HIS laws. God demands obedience from us, and if we are disobedient, we fail to obtain the good and perfect gifts from a God Who desires to give them to us.

Many adherents to religion, such as the Roman Catholic church, wrongfully assume that keeping sacraments, for example, will obtain them special blessing. They pray the Rosary, in which the false god Mary promises to give them "great graces" if they persevere in this idol worship. I am not judging Roman Catholics by any means, but they need to be warned that contrary to what their priests teach, keeping such vain traditions will never lead them to Heaven. Being a former Catholic, I grieve for the billions of Roman Catholics that are trapped within this bondage religion. They are sadly deceived by Satan, as are other misled followers of all other false religions.

Only Jesus Christ can break the bonds of false religion and set you free indeed. Then you will experience more blessing on your life than you could ever imagine. Why? Because God blesses His children. God is good, and He is holy, so we must live by what He gives us in the Holy Bible, and no other.

Scripture says this pertaining to blessing. Note that the reference points to obedience to God alone, not to religion or falsehood. For example,

Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it

This means we must give to the local church if we expect God to bless us.

This verse from James mentions blessing as praise or worship, and he contrasts it with cursing, which is the opposite:

James 3:10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

Jesus Christ gave this powerful commandment, which we would be wise to obey and live by:

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

In other words, we are told to praise and be kind to others that curse us. In our strength, this is difficult, but if we walk in the Spirit, we can rely on Him to speak and act through us. This is generally rejected by stubborn, rebellious people whose only desire is to get worship for themselves and don't care about God or others.

So we see blessing as a result, whether to God in prayer or praise, or a reward for obedience to God. We bless God when we pray, give to the local church, have compassion on others, love one another, all the things that make God happy, so we are happy in doing them and we are blessed by God. As born again believers, we have the powerful opportunity of living a blessed life and being a blessing to all we meet. We ought to always let our light shine for Christ in this darkening world. God desires it as such. Let's strive with all our might to please God with our life.

The one thing that pleases God more than anything is for you to be saved. God did so much in sending His only begotten Son to come to earth and take your place on that awful cross. If you just believe that Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose again, then you WILL obtain a place in Heaven. The biggest blessing you can get from God is that though you deserve Hell, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GO THERE.

You can be saved today. Believe the simple Gospel and you will be blessed.
