23 Alphabetical Attributes of Salvation: Part Twelve

12. Light of the World

What a wonderful truth this is, that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners. Jesus is the Light that shines in a dark place, and the Lamp which lights our path to Heaven.

John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

John 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

Jesus also said that we, His children, are the light of the world:

Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

How wonderful to know that the One Who took my place on the cross is the One Who lives within me, and He gives light to me through His Word so that I may be a light for Him in these ever darkening days.

The very Light that shone in a dark place lives in me so that I may light the way for others:

John 1:4, 5 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

2 Peter 2:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

Proverbs 4:18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

John 2:8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.

Matthew 4:16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

Luke 1:79 To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Romans 13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

Colossians 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

Such amazing truths! It truly is a wonder and a great privilege to be a child of God. We no more stumble in darkness, but we have the Light of the world, and His light is in us through His Word:

Luke 11:34 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.

Those who are lost have not any light in them, but are in darkness:

John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Jeremiah 13:16 Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness.

There is a horrible end for those who do not accept the supreme sacrifice Jesus made for them:

Matthew 8:12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

The children of the kingdom are Satan's children, e.g. the unsaved of all ages. Their end is in hell, and then they will be cast into the lake of fire.

Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Please don't be one of those who walks in darkness so that you refuse the Light. You have a chance to change your mind and be born again. Simply believe that Jesus Christ, the Light of the World, gave His life for you. He suffered and died in your place so you wouldn't have to go to Hell, and be with Him forever in Heaven.

Jesus died on the cross, was buried, and rose again, and is now seated at the right hand of God. You won't get another chance to be saved after you die. Come to Christ NOW. You may not be alive tomorrow.
